Parents/Guardians & Students
Now that your Son/Daughter is registered with American Future Skills you should be pro-active in providing information, materials and documents early as the application for a scholarship can be a lengthy process.
Please provide American Future skills with the following and as soon as possible:-
- A full up to date CV of all the Students Senior/Grammar/Secondary/High School educational qualifications, include examining boards, subjects and grades, no abbreviations if possible.
- A full up to date CV of the Students Sports achievements from the start of Senior/Grammar/Secondary/High School, main position, other positions played, include for each year level of sport played, teams, leagues positions and years, cup rounds reached, Captain, MVP etc. Include other sports of interest and hobbies. Current Coaches contact details, include email address and have them provide references with details of your son/daughters level of skills as a player, these can be sent to info@afssports.com .
- Other sports of interest.
- Provide sport fixture lists for the School team and any local teams your Son/Daughter currently plays for, season 2012 - 2013, include the address where home games are played.
- You should also provide a quality Video of your Son/Daughter playing a competitive game(s) and if possible pictures of him/her to be uploaded onto the American Future Skills website, these can be a head shot and/or action shots.
- It is very difficult for U.S. coaches to visualise the playing level of your son or daughter without actually seeing them play in person. Because of this you must provide American Future Skills with quality Video highlights. Attempt to produce the Video as explained below keeping in mind that you are competing for anything up to $45,000 scholarship funding per year for four years.
- Content of the High quality Video: Firstly you do not have to hire a professional photographer to complete this task as the students current school/team will normally have recording equipment and willing operatives. It is best if the video is taken with the player in shot as much as possible while still showing the game. The competition match should take place during the regular playing season.
The Students opponents should be of approximately equal ability as it would be difficult to show skill levels when playing either a weaker or much stronger opponent. In addition and if possible you should also shoot material during training in which you focus on showing all basic skills.
Golfers video footage should be taken of the player striking drives, fairway woods, long, medium and short irons, approach shots, chipping around the green, bunker shots and putting. - Please keep in mind that the Video should not only show the players technique but also the flight path and direction of the ball during flight.
Through this process American Future Skills can make U.S. Coaches aware of the students interest in obtaining a sports scholarship by providing them with the students profile and Video to maximize his/her chances of obtaining the largest possible range of scholarship offers.
