Bob Scanlon
Bob first travelled to the U.S.A. in September 1972 to attend Boarding school at Lawrence Academy, Groton, Massachusetts as an exchange student. He went on to become a Letter winning Senior for playing Varsity Soccer and a Non-Letter winning Senior for American Football. He was later named in the All State, All New England andAll American Soccer teams.
In February 1973 he signed as a professional soccer player with the Boston Astros of the A.S.L., 1976 Signed with the Boston Minutemen of the N.A.S.L. and ended his playing career in the U.S. with the New England Oceaneers. During this time he was heavily involved in promoting Soccer to many of the Boarding and Public Schools throughout New England. He also coached at a number of Soccer Camps on the East Coast of America.
